In Neolithic times, the ‘under-earth’ was a place of change and the journey into the underground was the entrance to the spiritual world. The majority of the works are shot at dusk and midnight, at times of transition and reflection. The objective of the work intends to provide a space of contemplation for the viewer, whereby they can reflect upon their position within space and time. Each individual works plays out a different mode of time and its relationship to the self. For example, the layered 35mm photographic negatives projects ‘A desert of grey infinities’, hinting to Freud’s description of the unconscious in spatial and photographic terms, whereby he compares the inverted image to the unknown and equally, the subconscious. Whereas, this work, "The moon understands what it means to be human", romanticises the longing to chase and capture the moon, exposing the naivety of the human and in turn archiving the body as an inevitability failing entity.
